| Patrol
Area
The patrol area is in a line from Lee on Solent
to West Cowes, from Gurnard Ledge to Beaulieu River entrance,
central Solent through Southampton water including the rivers
Test, Itchen and Hamble. HM Coastguard may extend these areas
at their discretion, e.g. in poor weather conditions, during
multi-roll tasking or when other rescue units are unavailable.
Patrol Times
The
service aims to provide 365-day cover. In addition, the crew
attend the station every Saturday and Sunday, and on Bank
Holidays; this provision includes regular patrols of the area.
Major race and other water-sport events are also covered. |
