The
Crew
Hamble
lifeboat finishes 2008 with sixteen registered crew and two trainee crew. They are led by Andy
Olden, qualified Radio Officer and current Chief Coxswain.
The Chief Engineer and Launch Operations Manager, Mr Colin
Olden MBE stepped down as Chief Coxswain over 1 year
ago and now acts as relief coxswain. In addition to managing his own marine business, Colin
is also a member of the local Coastguard Search and Rescue
(SAR) team based at Hillhead.
The
coxswains, two of whom are members of their local Coastguard SAR teams, and our trainee coxswain has now become an operational coxswain to make up our fourth coxswain. The crew come from all occupations and backgrounds. Amongst the crew we have a Master Mariner, an ABP Coxswain,
two electronic engineers, a yacht broker, a Coastguard Watch Officer, a store manager and our website and public relations
support crew work for Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service and Hamble Parish Council.
In 2008 Hamble Lifeboat has developed a strong and enthusiatic crew and we will continue to train and develop ourselfves to make sure that we are in an even stronger position to assist those on the water in 2009
None of the work the volunteers do with Hamble Lifeboat would
be possible if it was not for the continuous support of their
families, for which we thank them.
Recruiting and maintaining a Lifeboat crew / service is a never
ending process, and if you have the time and dedication to offer
and want to join our crew, check out the application form
for active crew or call / fax Audrey on
if you are interested in joining the support / station crew.
